Finally, setelah ditunggu-tunggu, AMPAS yang dikepalai Cheryl Isaac Boone mengumumkan nominasi untuk ajang Academy Awards ke-88 yang akan dilaksanakan 28 Februari mendatang. Kali ini, pembacaan nominasi dibagi ke dalam dua bagian. Bagian pertama dibacakan oleh Ang Lee dan Guillermo del Toro untuk 12 kategori, dan 12 berikutnya dibacakan oleh Cheryl Isaac Boone yang ditemani oleh John Krasinski.
